Practice Therapeutics is
currently partnering with Novo Nordisk to utilize Certified
Diabetes Educators to deliver a diabetes management program. The
focus of this program is to assist health care practitioners to
improve their management of diabetes. This is a full time field
based position. The
Educator will conduct education regarding diabetes standards of
care to primary care office staff and physicians to assist in
better management of their diabetes patients. CDE position available in the San Francisco and surrounding area.
Ideal candidate will possess:
•RN or RD with four year degree
•Current certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator required
•Valid driver’s license in good standing in the state in which
the Clinical Educator will be located
Essential Responsibilities and Competencies:
•Conduct educational programs in primary care offices
•Coordinate program implementation with office staff
•Implement new programs to keep existing staff up-to-date
•Work independently in a field-based role
•Manage multiple tasks
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Strong presentation experience
•Enthusiastic, ability to motivate others
Full benefits and compensation $70,000.00
to 75,000.00 range, car allowance, gas card, and bonus.

DESCRIPTION - Medical Science Liaison Diabetes -
Los Angeles, CA
TERRITORY:
Southern California
PURPOSE:
Within Medical & Scientific Affairs, position functions as a
liaison between NNI and key external customers to further
scientific exchange. S/he provides product and field scientific
support to Medical, Sales and Marketing, as well as Managed Care
and Government by using academic credentials and scientific
expertise to communicate with health care providers and
organizations.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Position reports to the Field Director. Additional key internal
relationships are with the Clinicians, Marketing, and Sales
personnel. External relationships include key opinion leaders
(KOL’s), academic institutions, physicians, nurse practitioners,
diabetes educators, and pharmacists.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
FIELD-BASED CLINICAL SUPPORT
• Scientific support for marketed products and development
projects, focusing on diabetes products.
• Support regional Field Sales’ scientific needs.
• Collaborate with Marketing, and Sales management to develop
scientific strategies to optimize NNI’s products and development
activities in the medical community.
• Establish and maintain functional working relationships with
Clinical Research Associates within the region to further
scientific exchange.
• Develop and present product and scientific updates.
COORDINATION OF EDUCATIONAL
PROGRAMS
• Assist with training sales representatives on product
knowledge and use of technical information in selling
situations.
• Coordinate the development of symposia and continuing
education seminars for health care providers on subjects
relevant to NNI’s products.
ADVOCACY DEVELOPMENT
• Identify, contact, develop and maintain relations with health
care providers to establish and/or support the use of NNI
products; when necessary, assist in resolving issues pertaining
to that use.
• Maintain a thorough working knowledge of NNI, its products,
current scientific research and publications associated with
same.
• Participate in special Regional projects e.g., team meetings,
training, etc.
• Attend assigned medical and scientific meetings to: a)
maintain awareness of current issues and new data pertaining to
NNI products; b) develop and maintain relationships with health
care providers; c) support greater use of NNI products and
services and d) support representatives in answering physician
questions.
• Identify academic centers and investigators to initiate and/or
participate in clinical trials and identify key areas of future
research.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE
AND SKILLS
• Advanced degree in biological sciences required, or BS with a
professional degree or certification (i.e. Registered Nurse,
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)) required.
• At least two years experience in a health related system,
pharmaceutical company, or managed care environment. Extensive
experience in diabetes preferred.
OTHER:
• Works within Novo Nordisk’s established policies and
procedures and ensures alignment of their work to Novo Nordisk
fundamentals.
• Embraces Novo Nordisk Values in spirit and actions.
• Approximately 60% overnight travel.

Summary |
Under general
supervision of the Program Coordinator, guided by the
procedures of Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration
with the Diabetes Teaching Center Medical Director, the
Diabetes Teaching Center Nurse is responsible for
providing patient education in diabetes self-management
to patients. Education is provided to individual
patients and in group settings. S/he works with
physician leadership and the Program Coordinator in
setting and accomplishing annual goals. S/he facilitates
positive interaction among staff, patients and other
departments within the Center and ensures a safe
environment for patients and staff. |

Qualifications |
• Graduation from an
accredited nursing program and a Diploma or Associate
Degree with 3 yrs
• Clinical experience; or a Baccalaureate Degree in
Nursing with 3 years of clinical experience or an
equivalent combination of education and relevant
experience in medical nursing
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and
self-development
• Experience in Diabetes Education Program – inpatient
or outpatient setting
• Knowledge and ability essential to the successful
performance of duties assigned to this position
• Certified Diabetes Educator or willing to become
certified when qualified within 1 year |
